Due to no Mixtape last week it’s a pre-December two-for-one deal today.
Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds – Wandering Star
Not one to pass up on a not-so-humble brag, the elder Gallagher brother says of the track “it’s that good that it sounds like it took 5.4 people to come up with it.” One of those people could potentially be Santa with the festive intro, wistful lyrics and distinct lack of the usual rock n’ roll swagger. The single is taken from the upcoming EP Blue Moon Rising due for release March 2020.
Lostboycrow – MOONLIGHT
Having just stepped off his tour of the States, we’re reminded what we’ve missed out on this side of the pond as gentle melodies sway through a super-chilled beat amongst soft elements of surfer-pop.
White Elephant Orchestra – Electric Dreams of Tokyo
We’re flung into a minimalist future with the crackling and buzzing ode to to Japanese painter Yayoi Kusama which includes an infectious chorus.
Chiiild – Darling
Seeped in sepia, the Montreal based group effortlessly blend RnB with the psychedelic which sounds like it shouldn’t work on paper but succeeds in gently pulling you in closer.
Alex Jayne – Messy
A retro sounding, atmospheric new track where the London based artist darkly broods about losing control amongst dreamy synths.
Emma Bunton – Santa Baby
Eartha vs. Kylie? Since her version of the iconic Christmas track was released in 2000, Ms. Minogue’s version has become a staple of December playlists, but now Baby Spice has put her own spin on the track, which is sure to be a highlight of her upcoming Royal Albert Hall Christmas show.
Evanescence – The Chain
Their first full rock release in eight years (their most recent album, Synthesis, was made up of orchestral reworkings), you may have already heard this cover of Fleetwood Mac‘s The Chain on the trailer for Gears 5. And for anyone desperate for something brand new, the band are currently in the studio…
Prince Fox – Same Love
New York based future-pop artist Prince Fox releases Same Love – a synth led, textured anthem with heart, and the second single from upcoming EP, I Got U.
Nia Wyn – 10 Seconds
2020 is just around the corner which means that Wyn is stepping closer to her debut EP and supporting Paul Weller on his UK tour. In the meanwhile 10 Seconds manages to contrast vintage rhythm and blues with a fresh groove which whets our appetite as we eagerly await what lies ahead for the Welsh singer.
Jack Savoretti & Ward Thomas – Human (Live at the SSE Arena, Wembley)
Nobody has yet seemed to been able to answer whether we are human or are we dancer? The Wembley crowd are asked to think it over again in this tender cover as Savoretti teams up with country-duo Ward Thomas.
James Deacon – HERO – aka Rich
Fierce and fiery riffs pile on top of the rugged vocals as we find ourselves immersed in a raw journey of emotions amplified by a soaring chorus.
