It’s the end of the world and we’re invited with this week’s visuals.
While the world was sitting up, paying attention and marching in protest to the crisis of climate change, Anglo-Danish pop trio Off Bloom released their single ‘Are You Feeling It Too?’ with an accompanying video as strikes took place across the globe. To convey the urgency of their message that the internet is fuelling materialistic values which harm the planet, Off Bloom invite us along to their dystopian rave ahead of their European tour.
Disorientating static introduces the self-directed video before lulling us into a false sense of security of soft lighting and pastel shades over gentle electro-beats. However, we are soon reminded of the world’s potential fate as we suddenly find ourselves at an end-of-the-world pool party. ‘Pull the plug, we’re under pressure‘ is pleaded in a plethora of strobe disco lights and equally erratic choreography.
‘We were inspired by an 80’s aesthetic and techno concerts; freaky dance moves and ballet costumes.’ The group explains of the video, reminding us of pop music’s long-standing platform as a force of social change.
