It’s our first foray into the Spice Girls’ solo ventures this week on Track By Track, and we’re kicking things off with Sporty Spice AKA Melanie C’s 1999 album, Northern Star.

20 years ago Melanie C swiftly shunned her Sporty Spice persona for something much edgier. With short, spiky hair and a grungey sound she launched her solo career with Goin’ Down – however the singles that followed (Northern Star, Never Be The Same Again, I Turn To You) showcased an artist with a passion for all genres of music. We’re discussing the album Track By Track on this week’s episode, with some Further Listening choices from 2013’s Version Of Me.

I absolutely LOVE this album. Every song is fantastic and full of passion and energy. Mel C. was always my favorite Spice Girl and one listen to this solo album cinched her place in my heart.
