The wind and rain have ensured we experience a proper British summer, but here’s a load of new music to bring some sunshine to your life.
The S.L.P. – ((trance))
More piano-led, Ibiza-influenced, rock-tinged, experimental electronics from Kasabian‘s chief songwriter ahead of his debut solo collection. This one’s chilled and fuelled in equal measure.
Gabrielle Aplin & JP Cooper – Losing Me
Two titans of well-crafted, sophisticated, polished pop collide on Losing Me, as Gabrielle Aplin and JP Cooper deliver a bang-on 3-minute duet.
Lily Moore – Nothing On You
Written with her pals Honne, and from an upcoming Mixtape of new material and collaborations, Nothing On You showcases Lily Moore‘s knack for delivering heartbreak with angst, only this time sprinkled with electronics.
ST. MARTiiNS – My Girl
Despite the alt-pop duo laying down a super-chilled beat, the highly-emotive vocals brings forth a contagious charm. Just as you fall into the blissful melodies, the abrupt full stop to the track leaves you craving more from the twosome.
Eighty Ninety – Got Your Message
This new release from the Brooklyn based Indie pair manages to capture you in it’s intimacy, yet still sweeps you along in it’s breezy chorus.
Vérité – Ocean
Led by tribal beats, warped electronics and a confident yet controlled vocal, Vérité releases another hint of album #2 on Ocean, and one which fans of Lykke Li‘s more recent work will be more than happy with.
Cari Cari – Anaana
The soundtrack to the latest Guinness campaign, Liberty Fields, Austrian duo Cari Cari‘s Anaana could just as easily have soundtracked Tarantino’s latest flick, with Country music influences channeled through the sort of distortion that Jack White uses as his go-to.
The Jacques – Kiss The Pharoah
Ragged, raspy vocals take us to a creeping journey of the underworld where mystical melodies distort our minds alongside the razor sharp edges of the cutting riffs.
The Darkness – Heart Explodes
Ahead of their upcoming sixth studio album, Easter Is Cancelled, and a huge UK tour, The Darkness deliver something a little more stripped-back, with hints of Love Is Only A Feeling.
Sam Johnson – Trip On Gold
Co-written with Iain Archer, finger-clicking and toe-tapping is almost a compulsory requirement upon listening. Sam Johnson will be joining Lily Moore at the 100 Club as part of his UK tour.
Liam Gallagher – One Of Us
With Liam’s son Gene on bongos and Yeah Yeah Yeahs‘ Nick Zimmer on guitar, LG’s latest offering from upcoming second solo album Why Me? Why Not. is another catchy indie-pop number, with strings and a gospel-outro enough to take it away from a by-number product.
a-ha – Forever Not Yours (Demo)
With upcoming Deluxe Editions of a-ha’s early 00s albums, Minor Earth Major Sky and Lifelines, planned for September, as well as their first vinyl pressings, the band have shared a couple of demos, including this early version of 2002 single, Forever Not Yours.
