Welcome to the world of fantasy albums, where music fans are put to the test to decipher their ultimate collection. First up it’s comedian Tom Lucy.
The rules are simple(ish): curators can’t repeat an artist, and to just make it that little bit more interesting they have to use the same track number from another album. For example, Track 1 could be the opening track of the incredible Stone Roses’ debut I Wanna Be Adored. Track 2 could be Blur’s Song 2 – you get the idea.
This month’s fantasy album has been curated by stand up comedian Tom Lucy, with his collection called Loose Morals.
Tom has been doing stand-up for a relatively short time, and has already managed to win awards, have a sell-out run of the Edinburgh Fringe and appear on numerous TV shows including Comedy Central‘s Roast Battle and Live at the Comedy Store.
Here are the tracks that tom picked for Loose Morals and why:
My favourite band. If I can still swing my hips like Mick and Keith when I’m 80 I’ll be very happy.
I’ve always loved this guy. His longevity and his passion is very inspiring
I’ve been kind of obsessed with Sinatra since I was a small kid. I’ve watched every film about him, listened to all the music and find him just as brilliant and fascinating as I did when I first heard of him.
I’ve been into James Brown from a weirdly young age. Probably 12 years old was when I started listening and being a fan. A questionable personal life but an unquestionably amazing musician.
Perhaps the best singer of all time. I would highly recommend the film Amazing Grace too.
I saw this lady live in concert and it was one of the best I’ve ever seen. So for that reason alone she’s on the list. So much talent and charisma.
I absolutely love this band. Everything they’ve done. Kevin Parker is the man. Period.
I’ve recently got into this guy but I’m now a full stalker fan. I think he’s going to be really huge. You heard it here first.
“What a dude. So talented and so down to earth. Big big fan. Again, this guy is headed to the very top.”
“This is who I always come back to. His music is so warm and familiar and I have it on the entire time in my house. “
