It’s February! Already! It’s freezing! Finally! But here are a handful of future hits to get you back to some sort of normality.
LUCIA – Blue Heart
The missing link between Wolf Alice and Warpaint? Blue Heart is power pop delivered by sweet, husky vocals, sounding all the better during the harmony-heavy chorus, and with hints of 90 grunge influences sneaking in for the outro.
Venus Furs – Chaos and Confusion
The Montreal based solo artist has borrowed a few key ingredients of psychedelic rock from the next country over to create blankets of soothing synths. It’s plain to hear why Venus Furs were the obvious choice to open for The Horrors and The Twilight Sad last year.
Alexander Wolfe – Avalanche
A brooding, tense number. Part acoustic number, part The Joshua Tree influenced, atmospheric, stadium-sized soundscape.
Dylan Cartlidge – Wishing Well
Sort of like The Hives with soul, Dylan Cartlidge releases the video to the thumping, scratch-vocal heavy Wishing Well today.
ALMA – When I Die
A slice of scandi-pop from one of 2019s one to watch – this one merges edgier riffs, with dubby beats and a power chorus. Fans of Charli XCX should love this one.
The Black Fever – Marketing
A surreal, whirling landscape is created by the Canadian indie trio where sonic vocals orbit disorientating riffs.
KAWALA – Runaway
A foot-tapping mash up of indie-folk where the hasty beat makes us want to pack up our stuff and obey the song title with this George Ezra sound-a-like.
