Confessions On A Dance Floor – Madonna‘s love letter and homage to all things disco – is a teenager. Yes, it’s 13 years since the Queen of Pop sampled ABBA‘s Gimme Gimme Gimme (A Man After Midnight) on Hung Up, long before Cher (what’s her royal title?) gave the track yet another lease of life this year. Confessions… sees Madonna team up with Track By Track’s favourite producer Stuart Price, for a non-stop electronic jolt across the discotheque, and became one of the fastest selling albums ever in the UK, as well as one of the best selling of the noughties.
And as you can always expect, we also take our pink leotards for a little de-tour from this particular dance floor as part of Further Listening – the section where we each pick a key track that’s not from the LP in question. In this instance, we’re looking at post-Confessions Madge.
Don’t forget to subscribe if you haven’t already, and join the chat @MoveToTrashUK #TrackByTrack. If this is your first episode you’ve already missed some bangers from Pet Shop Boys, CHVRCHES and Garbage but don’t get hung up, they’re all available on Apple Podcasts, and there’s plenty more to come…
Why not dive in with us and listen to the album anywhere.
