In the New Music Blag we give you the basics to let your mates know about the next big thing – we even tell you what to say so you can blag it and they’ll think you’re ahead of the game – a John Peel for a new generation, if you will, or the next in line for Zane Lowe‘s crown.
Way back in September we told you about The Wandering Hearts as part of a New Music Blag x Invaders Of The Future (Bestival‘s new music tent) special. Since then, they’ve released their debut album, sold out shows and are are currently in their spiritual home of Nashville. Make sure you’re following TRASH, as next week we’ll be sharing what they’re listening to on the road out there. In the mean time, head to our Facebook & Twitter pages for a chance to win a signed copy of their incredible debut album as part of our #OneYearOfTRASH celebrations.
And if you’ve found yourself here by mistake, here’s what we said about The Wandering Hearts:
A bit about: The legend goes that The Wandering Hearts were discovered 30 minutes after uploading their first demo, which led to a record deal, and has since led to an appearance at C2C Festival (it stands for Country2Country, non-country music fans) and their single, Devil, being added to the b-list on Radio 2. Now, even if you identified with the “non-country music fan” part of this paragraph, you cannot deny the hold it’s had on the music scene just lately, with everyone and their mother heading to Nashville to either record or see where the series is set. The Wandering Hearts are heading there themselves too, and going on their current material, something special is going to happen there.
What To Say: “Think Fleetwood Mac as millennials, but in a good way!”
The Maths: The Shires + Of Monsters & Men + Mumford & Sons
The Releases: The band released their debut album, Wild Silence, earlier this year, packed with angsty stompers (Rattle), harmony-heavy, from the heart moments (Burning Bridges) and more character-based, traditional takes on country (Laid In The Ground).
Entries can RT any tweet that give the instructions to enter the completion on Twitter, or share any Facebook post. The prize is a signed copy of The Wandering Hearts’ album Wild Silence on vinyl. The competition closes at 23.59 on Wednesday 20th June.
