Best for: City-dwellers who want the most agricultural experience possible for their 2018 festival weekend, or country mice who don’t like to stray too far from the fields. Oh, and music fans who favour the next big thing, naturally.

Location: Over Farm, Gloucester

Date: 5th – 8th July

Age: Barn On The Farm turns 9 this year, with a dozen extremely new acts playing the first year (headlined by Matthew And The Atlas), and the following years playing host to “new” acts Ed Sheeran, George Ezra, James Bay, Gabrielle Aplin, Bastille… You get the idea, they’ve got eight fingers and two thumbs on the pulse.

The music: This years it’s all about Toms. Not the drums – although presumably they’ll appear at some point – but Tom Grennan (on the day he releases his debut album, Lighting Matches) and Tom Misch (whose recently released debut received praise from Pitchfork and NME) who headline the Saturday and Sunday repectively. They’re also joined by Tom Walker, fresh from a recent sell out UK tour, and bands Mystery Jets, Pale Waves and Fickle Friends, who’ll play a special acoustic set. Of the newer acts, we’d really recommend not missing Lily Moore, Grace Carter and Sam Fender unless you want to kick yourself when they’re too big to get close to. Currently staking all of TRASH’s worth that these will be BOTF headliners one day.

The food: You can probably expect the most local of local produce from a festival set on a farm…

The rest: You know how at Glastonbury you’re on farm, but you don’t really feel like you’re on a farm? Well at Barn On The Farm, despite the huge acts, the hundreds of festival revellers and the flowing cider, you’re also very aware that you’re on a farm. Separate to the Saturday/Sunday, there’s also an Intimate Thursday event and, new for 2018, Behind Barn Doors on the Friday.

Tickets: Thursday and Friday have sold out, so hurry and get your weekend tickets (from the official site right here) before they go too.

Get in the mood with this playlist curated exclusively for TRASH by Lily Moore (in her own words, “Here is the best playlist in the world. It just is 🌝”). Lily’s too bloody humble to add in her own song so we snuck ’17’ in at the end because it’s the best. It just is 🌞:
