A bit about: Deadbots are partners – in more than just a musical sense – Paul Kelly and Nina Knezevic. After meeting in Nina’s home-country (Canada) in 2005, the pair quickly hit it off, with Paul heading back home to Dublin and Nina following four months later. Since then the duo have been making their own music, as well as remixing for others and DJing live. They’ve been championed by everyone, from Annie Mac to Arthur Baker and Groove Armada to Underworld, and now – over a decade after that chance meet – they’re preparing to release their debut album.
What to say: “If you’re the sort of person that can’t answer the age old question ‘which musical era is your favourite’, Deadbots are for you. The funk of the 70s, the synths of the 80s, the beats of the 90s, the vocals of the noughties – a perfect mix for whatever we’re calling this decade. In short, they’re the best bits of every decade’s disco.”
